From practice

Companies we've already moved forward.

Four stories from different sectors, with the same common thread: first use the capacity that is already there, before you build or buy anything new.

Manufacturing · Oirschot · FlexScan + Energy efficiency

One integrated energy plan for efficiency and flexibility.

The challenge

Heras wasn't short on capacity, quite the opposite: a substantial amount of unused capacity on its grid connection. They wanted to keep that headroom for future plans, but it was still unclear how and for what they would use it. At the same time, there was a mandatory energy audit (EED) to complete and an ambition to decarbonise.

Our approach

Instead of three separate projects, we brought the audit, the flexibility analysis and the future use of capacity together into one coherent plan. That way, Heras tackles compliance, efficiency and growth as a whole, without conflicting advice or duplicated work. At its core: a concrete path to put the existing connection to good use in the years ahead, before that capacity is lost.

The result

A concrete utilisation plan

How Heras will use the unused capacity on its connection for growth and decarbonisation in the years ahead.

Up to 15% savings potential

Mapped out through 10 priority measures, with a targeted approach per asset category.

~500 kW of flexible capacity identified

Usable within the existing connection, no grid reinforcement needed.

Arable farming · Wilhelminadorp

Growth made possible within the existing connection.

The challenge

KMWP wanted to build a new warehouse, but the connection was full. A heavier connection would take years. They wanted to move forward without waiting on the grid.

Our approach

With a FlexScan we mapped out current consumption and future demand, and unlocked flexibility within the process. We then stayed involved as their energy partner: from grid connection and wind energy to backup power and energy management, with monthly check-ins and one plan that moves with the business. We also brought several buildings in the area together under a single group transport agreement (GTO).

The result

33% more headroom on the existing connection

The new warehouse fitted, no grid reinforcement needed.

Flex-e subsidy awarded

Up to 50% of the costs reimbursed, and we handled the application.

One partner across the entire energy portfolio

Grid connection, wind, backup power and energy management, all connected.

Conferences & events · Maastricht

From scan to a continuous energy plan.

The challenge

Large events create hefty peaks. MECC was on the waiting list for extra capacity and wanted to move forward without grid expansion, while also working towards emission-free operations.

Our approach

We started with an integrated FlexScan: an in-depth data analysis of current consumption, down to transformer level, and a simulation of future demand. We then worked the flexibility out per component into one integrated energy plan across all pillars: monitoring, PV, charging, heating and cooling, grid connection and regulation. We have been their energy partner ever since, steering the energy plan in a fixed monthly rhythm.

The result

~5 MVA peak reduction

Waiting-list capacity not needed for the existing plans.

A firm grip on the energy plan

One integrated plan across all pillars, with room for growth and sustainability.

Continuously steered

Monthly check-ins and a roadmap that moves with the business.

Transport & logistics · Breda (Hazeldonk business park)

From individual companies to one energy hub.

The challenge

At the Hazeldonk business park, growth and sustainability are stalling on a full grid. The companies are consumers, individually too small for a solution of their own.

Our approach

Commissioned by Gemeente Breda, together with the park management and Enexis, we ran a quickscan for each company: its energy situation and the risks and opportunities around its grid connection. We then translated those individual analyses into one collective, park-wide approach. We are now developing the concept for a joint energy hub (GTO).

The result

A course of action for every company

Each company can get started on its own, without waiting for the collective.

Joint peak reduction

Scarce grid capacity put to better use, no grid reinforcement needed.

A collective model for consumers

Creating capacity together on a full business park.
